Job Description – Promotions Manager

You will be responsible for positively increasing JAZZ.FM91’s profile to stakeholders.

Key Role Responsibilities/Activities/Deliverables:

The Promotions Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day promotions of our station, while also being critical to contributing to the overall short- and long-term promotional strategy.   On a daily basis, the incumbent will craft promotional content for on-air, the web and social media, manage tickets for events, represent the station at events and execute promotional campaigns.

The Manager will elevate our profile, ensuring that our brand is continually developed and promoted in a consistently positive manner.  The Manager will be comfortable rolling up his/her sleeves and hauling signage to events, managing a station calendar of events and adding graphics to a presentation. The Manager will also be adept at conceptualizing, collaborating and executing a promotional campaign.

The Manager reports directly to the Program Director.  This position has no direct reports.

Promotional Responsibilities (70% of time)

•    Promote, execute and attend station promotions and events;
•    Develop and prepare client promotions. Manage all client, sponsor and stakeholder promotions and ensure that we are providing what we have   promised promotionally.   Ensure adequate on-air inventory exists to deliver on promotional promises;
•    Oversee all internal promo spots (writing, scheduling) and manage on-air inventory;
•    Oversee ticket sales, promotion and event management of our Sound of Jazz concert series, Jazz Lives and other station events (communication, greet ticket holders, oversee sale of promotional merchandise, manage promotional elements of sponsors etc.);
•    Coordinate and execute promotional campaigns.  Attend all major station promotions and designated client promotions as required;
•    Coordinate listener contests and maintain winner data base and contest files;
•    Maintain promotional signage and supplies;
•    Represent JAZZ.FM91 at various station and community events including summer jazz festival tour.  Set-up and tear-down event booth and signage.  Interact with station listeners, donors and the general public, answer questions, distribute station promotional materials, and encourage people to enter ballots to JAZZ.FM91 contests or to make (or renew) a donation;  
•    Maintain JAZZ.FM91’s monthly events calendar and a detailed promotional calendar;
•    Secure prizing for fundraising on-air campaigns and on-going initiatives, such as donor loyalty campaign;
•    Actively participate in Fundraising campaigns (totalling shifts, etc.);
•    Manage promotional budget;
•    Manage merchandise and promotional inventory.  In conjunction with Fundraising, make recommendations for station promotional materials; and
•    Other duties as assigned.

Branding and Messaging (20% of time):

•    Maintain and build a positive profile for JAZZ.FM91;
•    Manage the JAZZ.FM91 brand to ensure all stakeholders (on-air, on-line, events, etc.) have a consistent message;
•    Ensure external communications and on-air promotional/fundraising spots create brand clarity  without sounding repetitive;
•    Source and create weekly content for JAZZ.FM91’s weekly eNewsletter. Oversee and design content to ensure our  messaging is consistent with our brand;
•    Update station website and social media for promotional/publicity/on-air content daily. Ensure all platforms consistently  convey our brand;
•    Manage JAZZ.FM91’s Social Marketing sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). Seed information regarding JAZZ.FM91 marketing initiatives to various on-line portals.  Liaison with department managers to obtain content to effectively promote the station via social media/internet; and
•    Other duties as assigned.

Publicity  (10%)

•    Create media releases and obtain media coverage for JAZZ.FM91;
•    Build and articulate the JAZZ.FM91 story;
•    Maintain and grow media database and connections; and
•    Other duties as assigned.
